Practical Information

Dogs are very welcome in our holiday home, but please keep them off the furniture and beds. Before you check out, please make sure the garden has been cleared of any dog waste. When walking in the area, dogs must always be kept on a lead. Please also be considerate of our neighbours, especially if your dogs tend to bark. The garden is fully enclosed, allowing your dogs to roam freely. The fencing is mainly suitable for smaller dogs. If you have larger dogs, please keep an eye on them to ensure they do not jump over the fence.

Cupboards and drawers. We have two drawers and one cupboard clearly marked PRIVATE. These are not intended for guests.

Local area rules can be found in the information pack that was on the kitchen table when you arrived. You can also view them HERE.

Plants, both indoors and outdoors, would appreciate a little watering during your stay. Of course, this is entirely optional, but we would be very grateful.

Items in the house are there for you to use and enjoy. We simply ask that you treat everything with the same care as if it were your own home. Feel free to play the guitar, but please handle it with a little extra care.

Outside you will find several lovely terraces as well as a fire pit. Please feel free to switch on the string lights, but remember to put the power supply back into its bag before you leave. If you move any furniture, we kindly ask that you return it to its original place before checking out. The fire pit is wonderful in the evenings. If you light a fire, please follow normal fire safety precautions. Firewood can be purchased on Pøtvej and in most supermarkets. Seat cushions for the pallet sofas are stored on the covered terrace.

We recommend taking a trip to Juelsminde during the first few days of your stay so you can explore everything the town has to offer. There are three excellent supermarkets: SuperBrugsen, Netto and REMA 1000. The drive takes approximately 10 minutes.

In front of the house you will find a bicycle and woodshed containing five bicycles that have not been serviced, some uncut firewood, and a handcart with an outboard motor. These items are not intended for guest use. However, you are welcome to use the bicycles if you are able to get them working.

Waste sorting. Please sort your rubbish into the following categories:
1: Food waste – must be placed in the green bags and tied securely.
2: General household waste – should be placed in rubbish bags and tied securely. The green bags may also be used for this.
3: Clean paper and cardboard.
4: Cans, plastic packaging, and food and drink cartons (all items must be emptied first).
5: Glass must not be placed in any of the bins. If you have glass waste, please collect it in a bag and leave it next to the bins.

TV and entertainment. There are TVs in both the living room and the annex. The TV in the annex can be used with Chromecast. An extension lead can be found in the bottom drawer. The TV in the living room is operated using the grey remote control. Inside the small cabinet you will find an Apple TV, a PlayStation 4 and a DVD player. (DVDs are stored in one of the small bedrooms and in the box behind the guitar.) On the Apple TV you can watch a variety of television channels using the app called WAOO, including German channels. You are also welcome to sign in to your own streaming services. Please remember to sign out before you leave.

Wi-Fi. There are two Wi-Fi units: one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The network name is Sommerfryd Guest. The password is welcome24680. Please take care not to switch off any of the Wi-Fi units at the power sockets.

The kitchen. We recommend taking a quick look through all the drawers and cupboards (except those marked PRIVATE) when you arrive, so you know where everything is. You are welcome to use everything in the kitchen, including spices and cleaning products. Sharp knives, frying pans and wooden chopping boards should always be washed by hand.

Air conditioning. When using the air conditioning, please keep all doors and windows closed. It is very easy to operate: SEE THE GUIDE. Please remember to switch it off at night and before your departure.

Before leaving the house. If you have used any tea towels and/or towels, please place them in a bag outside the front of the house. You only need to lock the front door. The patio doors in the living room should not be locked, even though they can be. If you have enjoyed your stay, we would greatly appreciate a message in our guest book.

Kitchen Door

  1. Open the door using only the upper handle. The lower handle keeps the two doors together and should remain in this position.
  2. The door tends to stick and cannot be closed in the usual way.
  3. Lift the door upwards using the lower handle while pulling it closed with the upper handle.

Using the Oven

  1. Turn the left-hand dial to the appropriate cooking function. In this example, the fan oven setting is selected.
    The display will then show the default temperature.
  2. Turn the right-hand dial until the display shows the desired temperature, then press START.
  3. If you would like the oven to switch off automatically after a set time, press the symbol on the left twice, then turn the right-hand dial to select the required number of minutes.
    If the oven has already been preheated before setting the timer, you only need to press the symbol once.

Using the Induction Hob

  1. Switch on the hob by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.
  2. Select the required cooking zone and increase the heat using the + button. The heat settings range from 1 to 9. Please only use cookware that is suitable for induction hobs.
    Note: The selected cooking zone will return to standby after a few seconds. If this happens, simply select the required cooking zone again before adjusting the heat.
  3. Switch off the hob by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.

Using the Cooker Hood

  1. Switch on the cooker hood by pressing the round button, which will then pop out. The light will switch on at the same time.
  2. Select the desired extraction speed.
  3. Switch off the cooker hood as shown.

Using the Weber Gas Barbecue

  1. Start by removing the barbecue cover.
  2. Turn on the gas by turning the valve until it is in the red position.
  3. Supply gas to the burners by pressing the control knobs in and turning them anti-clockwise.
  4. Open the lid.
  5. Press the ignition button until you hear a clicking sound. You may need to press or wiggle the button a little before it works.
  6. When you have finished barbecuing, switch off the burners by pressing the control knobs in and turning them clockwise to the “O” position.
  7. Turn off the gas supply by turning the valve to the green position.
  8. Clean the cooking grate thoroughly with the barbecue brush while it is still warm. The brush should only be used on the grate. If any food is particularly stuck, you can loosen it using a barbecue spatula.
  9. Once the barbecue has cooled down, wipe the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth.
    Finally, remember to put the cover back on.
  10. If it is raining heavily or rain is expected, we would greatly appreciate it if you could move the barbecue under the covered terrace.

Air Conditioning

  1. Switch on the air conditioning by pressing the red power button. You may need to press it twice.
  2. Select the required mode by pressing MODE until the correct icon appears on the display. The snowflake icon is for cooling, and the sun icon is for heating.
  3. Set the desired temperature using the arrow buttons.
  4. Switch the unit off again by pressing the red power button.
    Please note: Always keep doors and windows closed while the air conditioning is running. Please also remember to switch it off before you leave.

Wi-Fi Units

There are two Wi-Fi units: one in the living room and one in one of the bedrooms. It is important that neither of these units is switched off at any time. Please take care not to accidentally press the power switch located behind the daybed.

Sonos Speaker

If you have Spotify, you can connect to the Sonos speaker using the Spotify app. Tap the Devices (or Connect) icon and select “Stue”.

If this is not possible, you can connect a phone, tablet or any other device with an audio output to the back of the speaker, as shown in the picture. You will need a cable with a 3.5 mm mini-jack plug.

Please do not set up the Sonos speaker using your own Sonos account.

TV in the Annex

There is a small TV in the annex, which can be connected using the extension lead stored in the bottom drawer. The TV has a built-in Chromecast, allowing you to stream content from your phone, tablet or other compatible device.

Outdoor Tap

If you need to use the outdoor tap, you must first turn on the water supply in the bathroom. Please always remember to turn the water supply off again after use.

Fire Pit Area

The picture shows which cushions fit the handmade pallet sofas. They are stored under the roof of the covered terrace. Please always return the cushions after use, or immediately if it starts to rain.

Kitchen Drawers

The picture shows the “hidden” drawers that many guests have difficulty finding.
